A quick review of this week's Gallery:

Alan Zinn - First class or coach?
Funny. And ambiguous. I like that. Leaves me wondering what they're doing under there, and even more, what's up with the chairs on top of the wing? And where in the heck did the rest of the wing go? An F-16, right? I rather wish more of the "Devils" logo was showing.

Emily L. Ferguson - Claiborne Pell bridge at night
Nice. I looked at this earlier and thought it was too dark, but then I had light shining in my eyes from the window. Now it looks just right, with the twilight in the sky. Too bad about the jpeg blocks in the sky, however, or is that a special effect? ;-)

Per Ofverbeck - Chilly...
Another nice one, though I think it could use a little more contrast/lightening. Otherwise cleanly composed and a bit mysterious. Where is this?

Bob Talbot - Mary
Lots of character here--Mary looks like a proud woman. I like the use of space, but the direct flash is not at all flattering.

Pini Vollach - Window of the long house
As someone else said, good as part of the series, but not great as a stand-alone picture. I tried cropping off the left side to near the edge of the shutter and liked it better--that left enough of a hint that it is a window and strengthened the perception of saturated color and composition. The exterior included in the uncropped version doesn't really add anything to the picture.

Christopher Strevens - Summer On Box Hill
An impressionistic view of summer with a pleasant feel to it.

Terry L. Mair - Bride
"Sorry, I don't do weddings" --that's what I used to have in a yellow pages ad. No offense, but I don't like the phony look.

Trevor Cunningham - Baalat Jebel
Ooh, that's nice. A minor quibble is the tree and building on the right meeting where they do, and the tilt of the columns at left (or where they really leaning like that?).

Mark Harris - Christmas Cactus Flowers
I like the limited depth-of-field, but even the focused parts look a little unsharp here. Wish the background wasn't solid black.

Andrew Davidhazy - Lesley
Hot lights? The Neat Image trick cleaned up the noise, but it also removed freckles. I like freckles. Lighting looks overexposed on her lower right leg and foot--light too close to the subject, maybe?

Well, that was supposed to be a quick review. Still took a while.

Cheers,
