I've taught classes and have used images from the web as well as from
books as handouts for my classes. Where possible I credit the author and
direct students to a given web site for additional images and/or
information.

I used these images to clarify points and illustrate concepts and ideas.
I think I used 3-4 in the course of a month long class.
