Don,
Segermann calls her pictures "light etchings" - kind of pretentious.
Well, she really calls them illumigraphs referring to the process as light etching, I believe. Maybe a little pretentious but the art world has never been short of that.
And scanners do have lenses so they are a type of camera I'd say. BTW so are X-ray machines.
There was no argument from me about scanners using lenses. Kim Kauffman also uses scanners but does much more post processing. I was just pointing out that you could get many different effects using something as simple as a scanner. But you know that with your reference to Olivia Parker. A guy named Davidhazy has been known to do entirely different work with a scanner.
Olivia Parker apparently uses a scanner for some of her work now. I haven't checked for the pictures on line yet.
I'd like to try scanning paper negs. Has anybody got this process
really nailed down? I built an interesting 8 x 10 paper neg camera but
haven't taken the time to test exposures and different papers. If anyone
is interested I have pics of it.

Interesting. Now here is another site with a slightly different result from the same basic method. http://www.illumigraphs.com/

I have no problem calling this photography - do you?

Kim has been producing these excellent photographs for years - probably one of the best using this technique.
