I always thought that a craft was something you learned as an apprentice and practised in a workshop, like basket weaving or craftsman's built chair, or joinery as applied to woodwork. The craft in photography is the work your technician carried out in the photo-lab or in the studio with the lamps and backgrounds. Art is in the design of a photo or a chair, in the painterly art of making a picture. Art is in the mind of the creator, a craftsman interprets this to an artefact. So for many photographers, photography involves both art and craft in one person, the photographer.
