Dave

Politicians are amongst the most devious scum on the earth.
It's not that they are evil, they cannot help themselves.

As you have recognised, restrictions to your freedom will only serve
to restrict your freedom and do nothing to curb the activities of
those who don't play by the rules anyway. Covert cameras are all but
undetectable these days and give perfectly good photos for those "up
to no good". You don't need a Leach to pin-point where to plant a
bomb :(

The fact is that fear is a very effective weapon. Those that wield it
most effectively are not always the terrorists.
Once those freedoms are surrendered you will never get them back. Why
do they really want to stop you using cameras on public transport?
Because they think they can get away with it? Next, it will be a
broader restriction, next you will not be able to photograph public
figures - and the press will be less able to expose their scams.
Getting warmer?

Today the subway, tomorrow the street.

Bob
