Just heard tonight that Ilford employees went from
300 to SIX, just six employees, now.
General consensus is that the smaller companies
like Bergger and Forte, maybe the new Agfa will continue the art.
The rumor is about some new to be released in the
US paper that was/is popular in Europe will become available.
Again, it's a matter of the joy of a hand crafted
print or the thrill of an image.
Cal State University Redlands just put a million
dollars into a new wet lab, predicated on their prospectus that to properly
learn computer aided photography you have to know the original
techniques.
Incentive: Redlands is looking to update
their digital course prospectus. I said, "That'll happen when they stop
calling it digital and begin calling it electronic capture
photography."
It seems the course starts out: This is a
scanner. This is a computer screen.
