: My best friend died three days ago and I'm making Tibetan Prayer
: Flags for solace.

condolences on your loss Em.

: I went out to Staples and bought a package of those iron-on inkjet
: transfer sheets.

was this the Epson transfer paper? never used any myself but I've heard of
good results

: Has anyone tried to put a piece of fabric through a consumer type
: Epson inkjet printer?

the tektronix phasers could do it, but I've not heard of any success
through a home inkjet. If you want to try, maybe you could heavily starch
and iron a sheet of cloth first. Include some washing soda in the starch
mix to give the small amount of moisture produced by the printer a chance
to overcome the starch and bind to the fabric.

:If you can get it to start, does the ink go
: right through and mess up everything? Does the ink actually stain
: the cloth or sit on the surface

that'll all depend on how much ink you can get the printer to chug out.
I'll guess if you crank up the intensity setting under colour management
and set the media type to something porous you will stand a good chance of
getting enough ink on to get an image.

? Does the ink wash out?

probably over time.
