I dunno, Andy.  There might be some commentary on http://www.dpreview.com site.

Those consumer and prosumer interchangable lens digis aren't the most professional in terms of features.

Does your program already have a cache of Canon lenses? Or is it a Nikon based program?

Are you looking to solicit donations from the manufacturers for this program?

I got a Canon 10D from a shooter at the Philadelphia Inquirer on eBay last month for under a grand. That would be a substantial step up in features from a Rebel. But it has the EF mount and Canon just brought out two lenses for the EF-S mount with which it's inflicting the 20D as well as the Rebel. The EF-S lenses are not backwards compatible although the EF lenses fit the EF-S mount.
