There was an amusing comment in a recent photo.net thread about the
Sigma 12-24mm zoom:

"You will be told that the Nikkor 12-24 is much much better [than the
Sigma] by people who dont own either."

Fwiw: I own one Sigma - the 24mm f/2.8, which I'm very happy with.
