I do weddings and portraits and pets with a huge chunk of my time going to children's black and white portrait work. Of course self promo will vary depending on the your niche but I was just curious what types of things people found to be affective no matter the type of work they do. For instance, one of my best generators of income has been to take some custom-made (printed at Costco but custom designed by me) business cards over to a very high-volumn coffee shop in my neighborhood. I refresh with new images every month or so and design the cards in such a way that they are a unique size...anything that can be made out of a 4x6. My worst generator was to run an ad, similar to the same ones I place at the coffee shop, in a weekly society paper every other week for a full year. It didn't do squat. Anyone else?
