"Strip mall," may be a southern California phrase that isn't used in other areas of our country. A strip mall is a single row of businesses, usually on a corner of an intersection. Malls cover a much larger area and contain many more businesses and several "anchor" businesses like Sears and Dillards. A strip mall is different from a row of free standing stores and businesses because the businesses are housed in one large complex-like setting and strip mall stores share a common parking lot. Usually strip malls sit on corners every few blocks. I hope this helps. > Marilyn > > Just to further demonstrate my ignorance: > What exacly is a "strip" mall? > > i.e. how is it different from just a mall (UK: shopping centre) > > Bob > > > >
