egrets and herons have different distance tolerances in my
experience. I can't get closer than 500 feet to a blue heron around
here, but little egrets will tolerate me up to 10 feet and the bigger
ones are shyer. 10 feet for a little white heron is too far away for
my 210mm (sigh).
