Just an update for the mac users out there who may have been lulled into believing that by using a mac they were safe from malicious attacks http://www.carrel.org/dhcp-vuln.html http://www.theregister.co.uk/content/39/34240.html "A series of seemingly innocuous default settings can cause an affected Mac OS X machine to trust a malicious machine on a network for user, group, and volume mounting settings. .." the problem seems to stem from using linux as the OS base but due to ongoing networking configuration issues with Mac OS X, the default DHCP is set to attempt to negotiate on all available interfaces - NOT the safest of network practices! the popularity of cruising the streets looking for open wifi relays is on the rise and this sort of exploit could lead to major headaches in the future if someone routes in on someone's wireless network. k
