You are able to hopefully see through another's mindset, eyes or heart. Give youself a chance to experience your work a different way. I was hoping to add my dislike for forumlas. Rules and formula are for me, only points of origin. A place to get started. What we teach our first year students. Critiques in my opinion should be as diverse as possible, only through that open portal will we be able to grow through the experiences of others. Steiglitz once said something to that affect, if you are not willing to listen to other paradigms your own will grow as a force of suffication, not as a source of nutriment.
