Canned compressed air works fine for blowing out the dust,
do this on a daily basis.
Make sure that your slides are dust free
before inserting into the scanner helps too.
Don't allow your pets into the area where your working
is the key item to keeping a clean working area,
and of course, if you must smoke, do that outdoors.
