Scott, I do it myself all the time. We have a slide maker machine which shoots slide film from digital files and is pretty good. The key (in my experience) is the choice of slide film to use. We use EliteChrome 100 and choose Elitechrome in a slidemaker menu. But, I have not tried it with very saturated digital images (or converting normal images on a saturated slide film, such as Velvia).
