Hi Russ, That's exactly why I suggested the Matthews gear. 1. It will stand up to loads considerably greater than either of the two pot metal stands you are looking at. JTL and Photek are both cheaply designed and cheaply priced. Not good. Tell me how is your insurance against injury to your subjects if a crappy piece of junk falls over and conks them on the head? 2. Someone else suggested Bogen, not bad in a pinch I have some of their gear too, I still prefer the C stands. 3. Did you ever think to ask about used or demo gear? I bought 5 of them that way and they are in fantastic shape. KEH has had used stuff often and they are very dependable here is the web site for Matthews http://www.msegrip.com/ Les ----- Original Message ----- From: "Russell Baker" <rebphoto@pronetisp.net> To: "List for Photo/Imaging Educators - Professionals - Students" <photoforum@listserver.isc.rit.edu> Sent: Friday, September 12, 2003 5:36 AM Subject: Re: Back Ground Stands > Maybe I should have been more clear.................... > > I am looking for reasonable priced > > PORTABLE Back Ground Stands > > I have to load all my stuff in a Ford Probe. > (sports car) > > I find my self doing a lot of > mobile portrait work for the > Theatre Companies I work for. > > > This is why I was looking at > the 12 ft Photek and the JTL models. > > > Russ > R.E.
