When you pay a cut rate for something, don't you wonder why it's less expensive than the full-price thing? Do you think there's no connection between what you pay and the thing you've bought?

Here in San Francisco, there are so many photographers relative to the work that if you wonder for even four seconds about it, you can figure out that supply and demand are out of whack. It has nothing to do with quality, but most of the photographers are working for a lot less than five years ago and print prices are way down.

It's not just photography. A painter friend, someone with work in museums, will discount to 50% of her usual price to sell paintings. These are large oil paintings, lots of time and energy invested in them.

So don't assume that low price is the same as low quality.
