You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about! The F1, F2, F3, F4, F5 & FM were not mine!! They were company cameras. To suggest that our highly professional group of photographers are somehow responsible for the enormous amount of breakdowns in the D1 is not only highly inaccurate but tells me you have very little experience with this new technology.

If someone is convinced that the new technology is (by the very nature of being new) better in every way than what went before it then nothing will convince them otherwise. Digital has so many big advantages - but longevity / long-term reliability are not amongst them. Neither is cost (for all but a tiny minority of high-volume users). Everything "digital" has evolved in the throw-away generation. Microsoft can't survive by developing stable technologies: neither can Canon, Fuji, Nikon ...

Your statements about the old cameras is frankly no surprise. They worked for years (decades for the older models) reliably. Given a supplier of film + processing most will work for decades more. Reliable D1? Why?

By the time they break they will be outmoded anyway ;o)
