Thinks though:  centuries after the US kicked the Brits out they still celebrate 4th July.  
Obtaining independance and holding it are obviously very powerful emotions.
Why is it so hard to understand then that the people of an occupied land might actually want you to leave them (and thier oil) alone. 
Mmmm ... maybe it's about time we kicked the Normans out ...
