: Re: Who needs a Spyder?

I know the mob that sell the spider refer to the spyder being a cheap
alternative to 'more expensive callibration equipment'.. so, has anyone
stopped to think what this 'more expensive equipment' actually is?

Of course it's a colour analyser and a densitometer. Bought new these
things ARE expensive but given the amount of old colour darkroom gear
floating around and how cheaply it sells on the second hand market, the
'expensive alternative' is frequently not that expensive :-)

OK, there's no software interface but with adobe gamma or an alternative
program, setting up from the scanning stage to the print stage isn't all
that difficult although you will have at least one lump of bulky equipment
(the colour analyser) set up near your monitor.

just a thought..
