I'm using a technique of converting color images to black and white by using the LAB color mode. However, once my adjustments are done and I convert it to RGB I can't save the image as a .jpg. Should I be able to? Am I doing something wrong?
I need the LAB mode for the conversion but I need the .jpg for web display.

Did you flatten it? Layer>Flatten Image
There is a great action for converting color to B&W here:

It uses channels like filters.
