Rattlesnake grass: I like this very much. Beautiful colors, Nice composition and it introduces me to something I'd never heard of - Rattlesnake grass. Jim Davis
Spotbilled with ducklings: Well-done. I'm not sure if a little light being thrown on the back of the mother duck for some more detail in her feathers would have helped or harmed this lovely image. Jeff Spirer
Laundry: Great idea; unusual perspective. Very nice framing and composition and great colors. The photo has an abstract-painting-like-feel to it. I actually get a physical reaction looking up at the clothing. Kind of the same feeling I get when looking down from a long way up. Pini Vollach
Laundry: I cropped this down (on the computer screen) so just the building and laundry showed. I liked it better, I think because it cut out the wires, antenna and pale sky, which - for me - are a little distracting. That's just my perspective of the image, however. As it is, I like the movement of the laundry, the pink building andthe touches of golden sunlight on the building. I can see why this subject would attract your attention. The photo has a nice soft, and peaceful appeal. Bill Ellis
Windmill: I very much like the delicacy of the windmill in juxtaposition with the strong, heavy fence lines. A lesson in contrasts. A beautiful photograph. Will Coveleskie
Daniel: I love your lyrical description of the image, Will. It matches and enhances the image itself. The fact that you were able to make a soft, gentle, yet successful image of a male is intriguing. Jose Luis Vasconcellos
My wife pregnant, high key: To me, this photograph makes the woman appear strong and is in contrast to Will's photograph (in which Daniel appears "tender"). An unusual pose for a pregnant woman. I have to think a while on how this image affects me. Marilyn Dalrymple
Buster Riley: I guess you have to know Buster Riley to appreciate this. He's got a great sense of humor. Dan Mitchell
The Flag: I like the tight cropping, the colors and shadows and light patterns. The photo interests me and keeps my attention by prompting me to explore what's there. Bob Talbot
Perspective; I think this is great, Bob. You do have unusual ideas. I love it! Christopher Strevens
AAAH: Exciting, unusual, funny, frightening. I went back to it several times to see more and for me, that makes a successful photograph. Gustaf L Bjerne
What my eyes saw: At first I was going to say I would like to see more light on the far side of this subject's face, but then I thought that the darkness of that side matched the look of suspicion in his eyes. A very well-done and beautiful portrait. Thank you to all who shared their work.
It is always a bit unsettling to put yourself "out there," buy doing so because
you never know how people will react to your images and our images are personal
things. I think all participating photographers and their images are
successful for that reason, alone.
