Some quick comments... ------------------------------------ Emily L. Ferguson - Skylight on mud ripples: Perfect nature abstraction. I like the color(s), why would you have a sunset crashing in here? Strong simple pattern that adds to the calmness of the mood. I would have cut the lower quarter away, as it is a bit messy - does not add to the calmness... Rand Flory - The Drink: It has this retro-mood to it which I kind of like. The composition is a bit too clumpy though; the glass with the light interfers too much with the drink, and the paper(?) with the necklace is in a strange place, maybe should have been closer. There is some clutter on the top of the image. You may have tried a closer look, cutting out part of the shaker - just enough that we recognise it. But as I said, I like the mood. Dan Mitchell - News from Home: Imagination, yes... Sorry, nothing really kicked in. Good composition, fun at first, but it seems to lack the story it is promising (the danger of including text in your images; people then assume that you are trying to say something ;-) Judy Curiel - : Why the tilt? It seems to me it would make a nice image in a "normal" position. I find myself wanting the calmness of a ship on the still harbour waters, and getting irritated at the dominating vertical line on the right. I love reflections and water images, but this makes me sea-sick (*sorry*). Rich Mason - The Climbers: Simplicity, still, cold,... ahhh! I like it. The vastness of the sky and the land is augmented by the tiny figures, just touching the blue band of sky. There is a good rythm in the image. Gregory david Stempel - Waiting For Another Run: Nice and spooky. Did you choose the image orientation on purpose? I would have liked to see it in potrait format, to get the pipes fully in the image. Good exposure. Pini Vollach - Venice 2003: It is a colorful event and you have captured that! Blue and red, also on th ebuilding in the background. And the frozen moment; the hand reaching for the bird - beautiful... what a shame with all those bl**dy tourists in the image. Jim Davis - Conversation: The definition of 'nature photography' is so tight that according to that, I have shot very few nature photos, even though that's where I shoot most of the time! Don't listen to them! I like the composition (except the stick in the water), but I would have liked to see more (or more clearly) of the boat. Maybe have shot from different angle to disentangle bird and boat. David Small - For Sale : Dark and moody; Deserted kitchy America for sale, like a used car. Nice touch with the "one way" sign. Any people in this photo would have ruined the image. I normally don't like street photography, but this is good. Jim Snarski - Eyes On The Prize: Good direction here from upper left to lower right. A bit dull though; no environment, just the bird. Not my favorite type of image, although I can appreciate the skill of the photographer. Alan P. Hayes - : This is the kind of street photography that does not at all appeal to me. Boring image, messy composition - why did you take it, what is the meaning? Don Draper - : Pleasing colors, nice background. Creates a good light mood of spring days in the shade of a flowering tree. The composition leaves just enough place for the moody backdrop. ------------------------------------------------ That's all for now - at 3 o'clock in the morning... Cheers, Thomas
