$500,000 photography prize

The war photographer ,James Nachtwey(who's film biography  was mentioned 
recently),was awarded $500,000 for his photography work.He shared a million 
dollar award with a filmmaker.
"The awards, in the categories of "past, present, and future time 
dimensions," go to nominees whose achievements have outstanding scientific, 
technological, cultural or social impact on the world, said spokesman Scott 
Tangney. Nachtwey won in the present category.
...photojournalist James Nachtwey, won for documenting "the apocalyptic 
events of our time." The prizes are funded by a $100 million endowment 
administered by Tel Aviv University. This is the second year they have been 
awarded. Winners can use $900,000 as they please, but must give $100,000 
away in grants to young researchers. The awards are named after Dan David, a 
citizen of Israel. He made his fortune in inventing, patenting, developing 
and marketing photographic technologies, including automatic photo booths.
