Chris, did you just watch Easy Rider or something? What do you mean by "look different?" It's not common for anyone to be assaulted, let alone killed, because of their looks. Don't believe everything you read.
Your chances of survival over here are quite excellent. Most of us only shoot with cameras. Those that use weapons for their assaulting most often use them on someone they know or on themselves. According the latest statistics I saw you are more likely to be the victim of a violent crime in England than you are in the USA, but a higher proportion of violent crimes in the US involve the use of a firearm.
