Because of its responsiveness to any change in time or temperature, the longer your normal development the greater control you can maintain. This is what makes these films so useful. It is imperative that your process is controlled and consistent. Even a change of 1º F in temperature will give noticeable variation in consistency. My normal development with old TMX in TMax RS 1:9 straight from the bottle is 11 minutes at 75º F. I just got a new box of 100 sheets from B&H so I have not yet had to do tests on the new. But, when I do I expect, from what I have been told, that my normal development time will drop to the 10 1/2 minute range. Peace! Sidney -- God said, Let there be light!
