To Jim Davis, who needs an extension, two ideas. If this is one of the "Gitzo" style ones, longer center columns can be had. You can also gain some lengthening by using the Bogen Pistol-Grip head. Part number: Grip Action Ball Head #3265, about $70 USD.

The 191 is the cheap and basic tripod - no extendable or reversible columns.
The 'pistol grip is a Manfrotto #222 Joystick Head outside the US (why Bogen has to use their own numbers....) Fine for most things but very awkward for portraits as the ball is at the base - you lose the extra height and get a big side shift unless you use one of their little 90deg. flip-overs that are useful on monopodii.
