Re: Photography as Art?

Photography is as much an art form as anything else is. A badly composed
half well exposed photo is as artistic as a child's crayon coloring. But a
Well composed thought-out, and exposed photograph can stand up against any
Renoir or Picaso. So, is photography art? Yes, and the fact that we are
still discussing this subject in our society after so long is insulting. I
mean when computer based graphics can along did ANYONE raise the question
of "Is it art?" Yes some did, assuredly. But they don't talk about it
anymore. It's my personal belief that the only people who don't think
Photography is an art form, are those who can't figure out why their
POS/PHD camera can't make wonderful photos, nor do they even consider that
there is anything like composition involved.

I'm getting far to pulled into this, I've said enough.

"Simplifying a Composition - One time when Ansel was shooting in the
Sierras with some friends, he came away from his camera and walked into the
scene. He grabbed a hold of a tree limb, ripped it off the tree, and tossed
it aside. When his more environmentally concerned friends made an uproar,
he simple stated that it did not belong in the picture." ~ Ansel Adams
