Can anyone suggest a more permanent ink for my epson stylus photo 820 other than the standard epson brand?

Have a look there at Lyson.com

http://www.lyson.com/includes/frames.html

They do also offer quad black inks. (four different taste of blacks, enhancing the output quality of B&W pictures).

But beware that :
The archival character depends upon the paper/ink combination.
The archival inks  comes with a price : a lower gamut and they don’t have that brillant look of the original Epson carts.
As soon as you change media, the standard Epson color profiles don’t work anymore and you’ll have to fiddle with he color profiles (I think that Lyson offers color profile for their inks)
Non OEM inks tend to clog the heads more often than the original Epson inks (but Lyson sells a cleaning cartridge which you should get).
