The SB-28's controls are all buttons, where as the SB-26 has more slide switches. The main difference is NIkon left off the Slave mode of the SB-26 when they built the SB-28. Other than that they are pretty much feature equivalent. I have both (well the 28 is a 28DX) and can answer specific questions about it.
