Ernst says: >Hey Everyone... the Post Office just issued a new >set (37 cent) stamps, Masters of American >Photography. Thanks, Ernst. I just bought a several sheets. They're all B&W and, in general, beautifully reproduced. Represented: Southworth and Hawes, Timothy O'Sullivan, William Henry Jackson (the selvage image), Carleton Watkins, Gertrude Kasbier, Louis Hine, Alvin Coburn, Steichen, Stieglitz, Man Ray, Weston, VanDerZee, Lange, Walker Evans, W. Eugene Smith, Strand, Adams, Cunningham, Kertesz, Winogrand, and Minor White. The images chosen aren't surprising, except for maybe Adams (not a mountain) and Winogrand (one of his women-are-beautiful shots). But they're all wonderful to see. PFers in the States should hurry. A friend at the post office says that they're going fast. BTW, this has been a good year for stamps of interest to them what likes photography. The Black Heritage stamp featured a image of the poet Langston Hughes that was derived from a portrait made by his friend Cartier-Bresson. Very nicely done. Cut and paste the address below for info on Hughes and the American Masters. <http://www.usps.com/news/2001/philatelic/sr01_076.htm#2002k> Best, John ===== J.
