Hello,
I strongly suggest that you use a newer version... The current version of PostgreSQL is 7.4.2... 7.2 is quite old (really old).
To this end, you need to first install cvsup from the ports tree, read the cvsup docs, and then cvsup the ports tree to -CURRENT. Then you should have a nice, up-to-date pgsql to work with there.

I installed postgres 7.2 on freedbsd 5.1 using the /usr/post dist, after not finding any relations in the template1 database I deleted /usr/local/pgsql/data and reran initdb, now I get the error:
/usr/local/etc/rc.d/010.pgsql.sh start ldconfig: mkstemp(/var/run/ld-elf.so.hints.dLieHP): Permission denied
Can anyone tell me why?
Regards, Doug
