Omnicell, Inc. has an opening for a for a Sr.
Database Administrator (DBA) role in Raleigh, NC responsible for providing PostgreSQL operational database services for the organization in support of our pharmacy client base. Some of the primary responsibilities
of this role include:

Owning, tracking and resolving database related incidents and requests
-
Building and deploying DDL and DML to implement application features and function
-
Managing operational needs of the database (DB) subsystems (e.g. DB backups, maintenance, monitoring), tuning and performance optimization
-
Building data and DB subsystems to scale to maximum performance
This position requires a service oriented mentality, good understanding of quality and how
to build reliable architectures. It also requires personal ownership of the issues assigned, managing and resolving issues, communicating with technical and business customers, and making changes on production systems with the proper focus on reliability and
stability. Each day you will make a positive impact in healthcare while working with the latest technologies.
Responsibilities

Maintain all Development, QA, Staging and Production PostgreSQL databases within the organization.

Responsible for backup, recovery, and upgrading all of the PostgreSQL databases.

Monitor databases to optimize database performance and diagnose issues.
-
Develop, implement, maintain policies and procedures, and document database architecture to ensure the security and integrity of the databases.

Implement data models, database designs, data access, table maintenance and code changes together with our development team.
-
Monitor code migration and database change management through various stages of the development life cycle.
-
Provide 2nd and 3rd level response for all system / database issues on 24 x 7 schedule responding to critical events and situations outside normal work hours.

Work with development and operations teams to tune production queries for optimal performance.

Implement and monitor replication for high availability and disaster recovery scenarios.

Review new database schema changes.
-
Monitor and manage database indexes and partitioning for optimal performance.

Automate the configuration management of database and Big Data systems.
-
Perform schema management, database sizing, and maintain privileges.
-
Install and monitor PostgreSQL database using the standard monitoring tools like Nagios.

Analyze daily logs using and query tuning.
-
Maintain custom vacuum strategies at table and database level.
-
Monitor database growth for every month in data warehouse databases and implement table partitioning for better performance.

Plan and execute software version upgrades.
Basic Qualifications:
-
Bachelor’s Degree
-
7+ years of experience including DB instance administration, schema and data architecture, and operational support of a production system
-
Experience with/in:
-
PostgreSQL databases
-
Implementing operational automation using scripts
-
Performance tuning and optimization, using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools
-
Unix/Linux and proper disk configurations
Preferred Qualifications:
-
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, IT or Engineering
-
Experience in the healthcare industry

Experience or support of logical replication
-
Experience with:
