Primary Responsibilities: · Work with NOC (Network Operations Center) to provide assistance, escalation, and resolution for PostgreSQL database issues · Develop, recommend, and assist with implementation of upgrades and improvements · Architect and engineer solutions to complex database problems based on project requirements · Train junior engineers on existing/new solutions and technologies · Build and configure development, QA, test, and production databases · Review log files and monitor data for problems and perform proactive maintenance Qualifications - General · Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related field (an equivalent combination of related education, training, and experience may be considered) · 8-10 years of experience in related work preferred · Solid analytical, debugging, and troubleshooting skills · Solid interpersonal, communications, and organizational skills · Strong self-motivation and the ability to work with minimal supervision · Able to work in a fast-paced environment Qualifications - Technical · Database administration (PostgreSQL strongly preferred), including: installation, initialization, authentication, catalog navigation, query tuning, system tuning, resource contention analysis, backup and recovery, standby, replication, etc. · Core Linux expertise (Ubuntu preferred) · Solid knowledge of performance tuning and troubleshooting issues. · Solid experience working with development, QA, and test teams, providing support as subject matter expert for database/PostgreSQL solutions · Experience and proficiency in database standards, operations support, high volume databases, performance tuning and troubleshooting. · Able to create comprehensive documentation using Visio and related tools, and communicate architecture and solutions to non-technical stakeholders What’s in it for you · Competitive salary package with all of the normal benefits around health and disability insurance · Unlimited vacation time, with the understanding that you will be measured on output and not facetime (being in the office not the Apple application) · An environment designed to help you create great work that you can be proud of · Working with like-minded people that want to create a great product but also have some fun doing it · Career and personal growth -- Sent via pgsql-jobs mailing list (pgsql-jobs@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx) To make changes to your subscription: http://www.postgresql.org/mailpref/pgsql-jobs
