We are looking for a Senior Postgres DBA.

This full time position is located in Amsterdam.

Portavita is a ‘Software as a Service’ (SaaS) company based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

Portavita is fully focused on the continuous development, sales and implementation of its programmatic and multidisciplinary Health Management System (HMS). Portavita’s software provides support for the work of many general practitioners, almost all units providing intensive care for thrombotic patients and a large percentage of care groups in the Netherlands, while also serving as a platform for safe and coordinated integrated care. The Portavita system is multilingual and currently in use in the Netherlands, Germany, Russia, and Poland. Implementations in Curacao, Switzerland and France are planned for 2014. Behind the Portavita website lies one of the largest online electronic health record databases in Europe.

Senior PostgreSQL Database Administrator (DBA) (m/f), fulltime

As a Portavita Senior PostgreSQL DBA you will:
	• manage and monitor a PostgreSQL cluster across multiple sites and servers
	• assure maximum uptime and minimal downtime using High Availability
	• use skills to fine-tune database queries, and apply, refresh and rebuild indexes as appropriate
	• examine the meaning of PostgreSQL database logs, and react accordingly
	• work closely with our development team in a DevOps environment
	• help our developers in using their virtual PostgreSQL databases
	• help provide guidance on best practices and direction for the platform
	• plan hardware/software requirements for new/future implementations
To be successful in your role as a Senior PostgreSQL DBA at Portavita you have:
	• a degree in Computer Science or a related field
	• 3+ years working experience with PostgreSQL databases in production environment
        • strong affinity and experience with Linux.
	• experience in working on performance, scalability and availability
	• hands-on knowledge of PostgreSQL specific clustering, replication and/or load balancing solutions
	• ideally you’ll have good software development skills and experience with Scrum development methodology
	• experience with other relational databases such as Oracle or MongoDB would be a bonus

Terms of Employment
We offer a salary at market rates, including a payment towards pension contributions. A part-time position is negotiable. Working hours are flexible and the possibilities include working partly at home.
