PostgreSQL DBA - Reston, VA - Full Time

Good morning! I would love to send out my new PostgreSQl DBA opening to the group. Clarabridge is based in Reston, VA and has offices in London and San Francisco. Clarabridge’s industry-leading Intelligent Customer Experience Management (CEM) solution is leveraged by the world’s top brands.

 

As a Database Administrator (DBA) working at Clarabridge, you will be involved with managing big data analytics in the cloud.  You will support an enterprise software solution for customers through administrative, maintenance and development activities.  Our solutions are both hosted and installed at customer sites as well as supported on multiple platforms, so many different types of challenges lie ahead for the successful candidate.

 

Responsibilities

• Developing deep understanding of the company’s applications, their database schemas, and common use case scenarios
• Overseeing database backups and performing restores
• Preparing platforms for database installations
• Monitoring of databases
• Performing routine database administration tasks
• Investigating and troubleshooting database-related application issues
• Collaborating with consultants and support staff on database related issues, writing scripts, reports, and stored procedures
• Performing database performance tuning
• Working with technical personnel of the company’s clients and partners to resolve database-related issues
• Provide on-call support during non-business hours
• Position may require occasional travel to customer sites

Requirements

• 3-5 years experience managing PostgreSQL in a production environment
• Experience with Oracle, MySql, or Big Data technologies is a plus
• Experience with pgPool is a plus
• Strong understanding of PostgreSQL fundamentals
• Backup and recovery techniques and procedures
• Maintaining PostgreSQL database to ensure optimal performance and reliability
• Strong knowledge of SQL
• Unix/Linux as related to performing DBA duties
• Unix shell scripting
• Strong written and oral communication skills
