Also, if OP cannot get a VM that reliably passes the power plug pull
test then OP should submit in writing why he thinks VM is a bad idea
as an ass covering move for the future date when the database WILL
become corrupted and probably lose data.  You need to get the point
across that you can't be held responsible for the safety of the data
placed into a non-reliable system.
