There are two lpdap.conf files.

/etc/openldap/ldap.conf (thats where it is on a Red Hat system) is for the 
openldap clients.  You were referred to the man page for this file in the 
previous post.

/etc/ldap.conf is the configuration file for nss_ldap/pam_ldap.  The source is 
available from http://www.padl.com.
