I have ethernet terminals telneting over a LAN to a linux host. What I would like is for the connecting terminal to be logged in automatically as a particular user according to the IP or MAC that they are connecting from. I had thought that this would be a common requirement, and that there would be a ready-bottled solution available, but if there is, I haven't managed to find it.
