I too think it's best to put modules in a separate directory from all the other libs. It's not just an issue of aesthetics, but also of performance (directory lookups are slower on directories with many files than on directories with few files) and security (because, presumably, admins will be more careful about installing into /usr/lib/security than /usr/lib).
