/usr/lib/security on Solaris, but then, on Solaris /lib/security is
equivalent to /usr/lib/security on Solaris because /lib is a symlink to
/usr/lib on Solaris.

I too think it's best to put modules in a separate directory from all
the other libs. It's not just an issue of aesthetics, but also of
performance (directory lookups are slower on directories with many files
than on directories with few files) and security (because, presumably,
admins will be more careful about installing into /usr/lib/security than
/usr/lib).

For me, the aesthetics and performance issues win.

So am I. You can submit these as bug reports to Linux-PAM in
SourceForge, where they are easy to browse.
