Hi all,

I am still stuck with the problem, though I have seen a few messages in the meantime which talk about such an installation. Unfortunately, I could not find a way to implement.

Thanks for your help.

Subject: Problem with PAM_LDAP and POP

Hi,

I am trying to configure my server to authenticate POP3 users with LDAP. The problem is that the server is authenticating only when a local users exists with the username, i.e. for a user “akd” to successfully authenticate using LDAP, I have to create a user akd as a local user (entry in /etc/passwd). Is there a way around this? I am using OpenLDAP as the server and Qpopper 4 compiled to use PAM.

Thanks for your help.

Regards

Anindya
