try the source for the pam modules, like pam_pwdb.. i think it is all done in there, Regards, Cam -----Original Message----- From: StyX [SMTP:styx@mailbox.as] Sent: Friday, March 23, 2001 2:37 AM To: pam-list@redhat.com Subject: Alternative shadow-file Hello folks I'm quite new to this list, so bear with me. I'm tring to use an alternative shadow file, namely /etc/secure/shadow, but I can't seem to get it to work with PAM. I downloaded the source for Linux-PAM-0.74 (or something similar, can't remember off the top of my head), and grep'ed for every occurance of "/etc/shadow", altered it, recompiled, but it still doesn't work. Have anyone got a solution for this? Has this been attempted before? I'm also trying to get pam_limits to work, but with no luck. Every time i log in using ssh, I get a message in my syslog that says "pam_limits: cannot initialize". The /etc/limits file exists and is set up properly. And, one last thing. This has probably been reported before, but I'll tell you anyway... The "make install" step makes the wrong symlinks in /lib. It symlinks from /lib/libpam.so to /lib/libpam.so.0.74, which doesn't exist, because "make install" installed it with another name (sorry, don't remember exacly this either).
