In principle, yes, but AFAIK autofs cannot collect the user password at 
login. And pam_mount 0.3 (already in beta) will support "template volumes" - 
volume descriptions that apply against every user. This is a powerful concept 
for environments with lots of users, and again (AFAIK) autofs does not have 
it.
