Hello:
I am unable to compile nntpcache 2.4.0b5 on a Sun
E250 running Solaris 8.
I am trying to compile with :
GCC 2.95.2
GNU Make version 3.79.1
Autoconf 2.13
Automake 1.4
I get this error message:
<snip>
creating libproff/Makefile
make[2]: Leaving directory `/export/home/bryang/nntpcache-2.4.0b5/libproff' make[2]: Entering directory `/export/home/bryang/nntpcache-2.4.0b5/libproff' gcc -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I. -I. -I.. -I../cf -I../common -I../mmap -I../libmmalloc -g -O2 -Wall -pipe -c list_test.c list_test.c:4: err.h: No such file or directory list_test.c: In function `main': list_test.c:62: warning: implicit declaration of function `warnx' make[2]: *** [list_test.o] Error 1 make[2]: Leaving directory `/export/home/bryang/nntpcache-2.4.0b5/libproff' make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1 make[1]: Leaving directory `/export/home/bryang/nntpcache-2.4.0b5' make: *** [all-recursive-am] Error 2 It dies because it can't find err.h in
/usr/include/. I have err.h in /usr/include/sys/ but this doesn't
seem to be what it wants. Where should I get the required
err.h?
...
Can anyone help me get this to compile?
Please, I am in dire need of assistance.
I am trying to go to nntpcache2.4.0b5 because I
have an emergency. Nntpcache2.3.3 was running fine for a year until
Saturday. Then it started generating, this error and dying:
May 6 15:14:28 Virginia
nntpcache-update[521]: nmalloc.c:14: XMcalloc call from list.c:__LINE__ for 6
bytes failed
My newsfeed provider tells me nothing has changed
on their end, they run DNEWS Version 5.5b4.
Is there a maximum number of groups that
nntpcache2.3.3 can handle. This appears to be the only change in the
scenario - the list of groups they offer has grown to more than 85,000
at this point. Have I crossed a threshold with nntpcache where it will no
longer work for me with a group list this size?
Sorry to sound like a desparate lunatic, but I am
in a pinch here.
