(Not entirely unlikely w/Microsoft products...) nntpcache does seem to break Attachmate Emissary, though. If you do a 'listgroup *' nntpcache 0.88 [Yeah, I know. Upgrade to a more recent version.. :)] sits there bog-eyed.
