Hi johannes,

I just tried this tutorial:

https://kernelnewbies.org/FirstKernelPatch

It is well written and covers everything.
The only thing to change is the call to 

get_maintainer.pl

The call should be done without the arguments so you'll get the correct mailing list to submit to.
