Hi
Say I want to pick up a patch
https://www.google.co.in/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&ved=0CC4QFjAA&url="">

how do i apply it directly to my branch without copying it ?

Why is it important that you do not copy it?
I would prefer to get the git commit id from the branch and generate the patch from there.
generally you should apply patch with patch command, but I am not sure what are you trying to achieve here.

I have tried git am and git mail-info, but i am not sure if I am using
the correct command.

Can you please let me know the correct command ?
