Hi All,
I have installed WinXp (32 Bit), Windows 7 (64 Bit) and Ubuntu (10.4) on my Pentium i5 machine. My monitor is
Dell 2010M flat 20 inch wide screen.
When I boot Ubuntu I dont see the classic messages I used to see something like below:
Starting Crond [OK]
Starting Keboard [FAILED]
They have a quite keyword on the boot command line in Ubuntu so that users do not get "scared" and post bug reports based on boot error messages. Ubuntu is not the only Distro which hides this info to reduce bug reports.
Good link on Ubuntu and grub2
Has this changed? Also Ctrl + Shift + F2 does not take me to shell, Monitor goes blank and goes to sleep mode. Is it something
related to monitor or has the linux itself has changed? Please advise.
Ctrl + Alt + F2 will bring you to tty2. Also, Ctrl + Alt + F1 all the way to Ctrl + Alt + F6 will bring you to tty1 - tty6, respectively. Lastly Ctrl + Alt + F7 will return to the GUI.
