Vinny,

I'm going to be wordy since I don't remember this being addressed here
before. If this is not in a wiki somewhere, maybe someone could add
it the kernelnewbies wiki. Thanks

Since there are dozens of lkml lists, it is important they work
together and that people don't have to subscribe / unsubscribe as they
move from one subsystem list to another.

With most lkml lists you don't have to subscribe to post. That
requires great anti-spam software, but it is in place and shared by
most lkml lists. So if you have a ide question / rfc / patch, you can
just post it to the ide list without any preliminary subscribing.

Since non-subscribers can (and do) post, it is always policy to do reply all.

Further, if a discussion evolves to where it requires answers from a
specific individual not subscribed to the sub-list having the
discussion, someone can just add them to the cc line, and now they
have joined the thread. With the reply all philosophy they will now
see the rest of the thread as it evolves.

Based on the above many core lk developers have email filters in place
to separate normal list traffic from messages that have their name in
the to: / cc: fields.

That allows them to prioritize the messages that are specifically
targeted to them as opposed to part of the overall list traffic.
